SOFTBALL ACADEMIES AND FACILITIES OVERVIEW

ISA academies and facilities are located all over the world and are the premier training locations for softball players to develop and compete at the next level. Our international presence allows us to teach how the game is played by different cultures all over the world. All of our programs within our academies are set up to share knowledge of diversity and culture in a team environment.

Our core focus is complete development of a player based around four key values: strong fundamentals, athleticism, character, and mental toughness.

ACADEMIES AND FACILITIES PROGRAM

Player Development

Teaching basic fundamentals. Learning techniques for hitting, fielding, throwing, pitching, catching, running and being a team player.

Practices

Fundamental drills.

Defense: Teach proper glove work, throwing and catching.

Hitting: Balance and contact.

Pitching: Proper grip to the fastball with good mechanics.

Catching: Teaching basic receiving, blocking and throwing down to the bases.

Baserunning: How to run with the right technique, learn how to properly slide and read balls hit off the bat.

Competition

Games with local, regional, national teams. Some international competition.
The focus is on teaching fundamentals, along with handling light pressure situations in games.

Mental

Basic introduction to mental awareness.

Education

Introduction into the emphasis of academics.

Overall

Building a solid base of fundamentals that will be teaching the kids the general idea of the game. Kids will learn strong fundamentals.
Main goal is getting kids to love the game and wanting to keep playing it.

Player Development

Improving the players basic fundamentals. Learning techniques for hitting, fielding, throwing, pitching, catching and baserunning.

Practices

Fundamental drills.

Defense: Teaching proper glove and footwork, arm angles for throwing, catching flyballs and pop-ups.

Hitting: Teaching direct path to the ball and using legs.

Pitching: Teaching proper arm angle and delivery to prevent injury. Learning 4 seam and 2 seam fastball and learning about how to grip the ball.

Catching: Teaching basic receiving, blocking and throwing to bases.

Baserunning: Teaching principal baserunning techniques. Rounding bases properly, sliding, picking up ball and base coach, and hustling out everything.

Competition

Games with local, regional, national teams. Some international games.
Game focus is on teaching fundamentals, along withhandling light pressure situatoins in games.

Mental

Basic introduction to mental awareness and communication.

Education

Tutoring, more emphasis on the importance of academics.

Overall

Strengthing fundamentals and introducing more advanced techniques.

Practices

Introduction into leadership.
Main focus on game situations and fundamental drills that coincide with them.

Defense: Advanced footwork, soft hands, specialized skill training.

Hitting: Teaching to hit the ball where it is pitched. Learning about pitch recognition.

Pitching: Focusing on hitting locations with the 4 seam and 2 seam fast ball. Introducing off-speed (changeup).

Catching: Teaching more advanced drills on receiving, blocking, transfer, throwing and being vocal with the infield.

Baserunning: Teaching more aggressive baserunning, leads, jumps, stealing techniques by reading and timing the pitcher, baserunning situations.

Competition

More international games in league play and tournaments. Also local, regional and national play.
Game focus is more on advanced game situations, handling higher pressure, and understanding the strategy of the game.

Mental

Introducing more progressive mental techniques. Staying in the moment, visualization, knowing their role.

Education

Middle school tutoring, introduction to other languages.

Overall

Developing consistent fundamentals with adding some more advanced techniques. Learning how to apply those techniques into all game situations.
Main goal is to teach the kids the deeper part of the game, introducing stategy, and getting them to love the game even more.

Player Development

Polishing up fundamentals and introducing high school techniques.
Teaching the “5 tools” of the game.

Practices

Learning stronger leadership. More focus on game situations and drills that coincide with them.

Defense: Advanced infield and outfield footwork, smooth glove/ball transfer, infielders throwing from different arm angles, outfielders running down flyballs, proper specialized position and skill training based on positions.

Hitting: Teaching to hit with power and hit the ball where it’s pitched. Learning bat control and small ball.

Pitching: Focusing on locating pitches, learn ball movement and more advanced mechanics, introducing more off-speed pitches.

Catching: Teaching more advanced drills on receiving, framing, knowing your umpire and how to communicate with him, blocking, transfer, throwing and being vocal with the infield.

Baserunning: Teaching more aggressive baserunning, stealing techniques, knowing the different baserunning situations.

Competition

International games and league play along with tournaments. Also local, regional and national play.
Game focus is more on learning to win using basic and progressive techniques.

Mental

Teaching advanced mental techniques. Being constantly in the moment, visualizing every play and at-bat, knowing all game situations and how to be prepared. Mental toughness and self-discipline.

Education

High school Tutoring, learning other languages

Overall

To prepare them for high school, develop as many tools and positions as possible in each player. Strengthen their mental game approach.
Main goal is to put a complete baseball player package together ready for them to play high school.

Player Development

Improving all 5 tools. Start strength training program.

Practices

Team chemistry.
Main focus is on game situations and drills that coincide with them.

Defense: Advanced situations, infield and outfield footwork, soft hands, transfer, holding runners on, infielders learning to throw from different arm angles, outfielders running down flyballs and getting in good throwing position, specialized skill training based on positions.

Hitting: Teaching to hit with power and hit the ball where it is pitched, Situational hitting, bat control, bunting and hitting approach.

Pitching: Focusing on locating pitches, learn ball movement and placement, more advanced mechanics, introducing more off-speed pitches learning picks, timing and tempo.

Catching: Teaching advanced drills, receiving and framing. Learn to communicate with the umpire, advanced blocking, transfers and throwing runners out.

Baserunning: Teaching aggressive baserunning, stealing techniques, skilled baserunning situations.

Competition

International games and league play along with local, regional, national and international tournaments.
Game focus is more on learning to win and compete using basic and progressive techniques.

Mental

Teaching advanced mental techniques and how to fine tune them. Learning how to bring yourself back in the moment, visualizing every play and at-bat, knowing all game situations and advance preparation. Meshing visualization, self-discipline and mental toughness.

Education

Tutoring, college awareness program, college preparation program, college recruiting program, college video program.

Practices

Mastering leadership and team chemistry.

Defense: Advance game situations infield and outfield. Learning anticipation, game situations.

Hitting: Learning pitch recognition, hitting approach, plate discipline, plate coverage, situational hitting and fine tune mechanics.

Pitching: Situational pitching, studying the hitters, pitch sequence, learning new pitches, defining mechanics, learning breathing strategies.

Catching: Learn sequences of pitches. Doing advanced drills for blocking, receiving and throwing, Learning to study the hitter, refine blocking mechanics, throwing mechanics, practice communication and learning the leadership role.

Baserunning: Teaching aggressive baserunning, stealing techniques, knowing the different baserunning situations and counts. Learning leads and reads off the bat, and anticipation.

Competition

International games and league play along with local, regional, national and international tournaments.
Game focus is more on learning to win and compete.
